About Me
I have been providing psychotherapy for 20 years treating adults and couples. I graduated from the University of Alberta with a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology. As a Registered Psychologist I have worked in a variety of settings including an adolescent treatment centre, school and corrections facilities, a community clinic, university setting, and a specialized clinic for military and RCMP personnel/veterans. I continue to operate a private practice in west Edmonton. Other professional activities include supervising provisional psychologists, workshop training, and served as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta (2010 to 2024). I have published research in various areas including perfectionism and depression/anxiety.
Treatment Specialities
I have received extensive training from world leaders in the treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). My approaches to treating PTSD include: Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I offer individual therapy for PTSD as well as supervise and provide consultation to other professionals in this area.
I am trained in a variety of individual therapies; however, my predominant approach to treatment is guided by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I treat numerous client issues ranging from depression and anxiety to self-esteem and relationship difficulties.
I am also trained in marital and couples therapy. In working with partner relationship problems I strive to help couples grow in areas of difficulty and make important decisions about their future.
I have years of assessment experience providing disability and treatment assessments for insurance providers, RCMP Health Services, PCVRS, and Veterans Affairs Canada.
